Paris in July

BookBath and Thyme For Tea have decided to come together to host a blogging experience to celebrate our love of all things French and Parisian – “Paris In July”. We are two friends with a deep interest and love of the French culture and way of life – although we experience and demonstrate this love in very different ways. Karen has only recently discovered the magic of Paris – the city, the architecture and the fashion whereas the French experience has been a part of Tamara’s life for a long time, leading her to learn the language and experience the culture in a deeper way. But for both of us as Australian’s, the reality of traveling to France is a costly and timely experience – so we need to bring France to us!

So, in order to help us to do that BookBath and Thyme For Tea will be jointly hosting a French themed blogging experience running from the 1st – 31st July this year called “Paris In July”.

The aim of the month is to celebrate our French experiences through reading, watching, listening, observing, cooking and eating all things French!

There will be no rules or targets in terms of how much you need to do or complete in order to be a part of this experience – just blog about anything French and you can join in! Some ideas might include;

  • reading a French themed book – fiction or non-fiction,
  • watching a French movie,
  • listening to French music,
  • cooking French food,
  • experiencing French, art, architecture and travel

If you are interested in being a part of this experience leave a comment on this post and we will put together a side bar showing all of the participants. There will be weekly French themed prizes during the month which we will randomly draw from all the French themed posts of that week that link back to BookBath and Thyme For Tea. Tamara from Thyme For Tea will be writing weekly wrap up posts on the 10th and the 24th July and Karen from BookBath on the 17th and 31st July.

We have found a couple of images to represent our Paris In July experience so feel free to add any of these to your blog, with a link back to one of us, if you are joining us.

Just left a comment at Book Bath, but thought I would leave one here too. I was lucky enough to go and see Manu Fiedel at the Good Food and Wine show so maybe I will be brave and try and cook something French during this month as well!

By the way, I have recently started a directory for Australian book bloggers. If you are interested, you can find out further information about it here

I'm so excited that you are all joining us in this blogging experience. Both Karen and I are really loooking forward to July. I will soon be posting some examples of things we can blog about...

I'm thinking about how I can do this; the idea is so intriguing! I remember celebrating Bastille Day in Paris on July 14, and Lancome always has a gift with purchase around then, but I need something bookish! Or, music-ish?

Ah, perhaps I could read the book after The Elegance of The Hedgehog by Muriel Barbarry, The Gourmet Rhapsody. Okay, I'm in. XOXO

Hi, I have a question-is the expectation that we blog something about Paris every day in July, or are some blogs in the month of July OK? Thanks, looking forward to this!

Tamara said...

Electra, There are no expectations. But as a guide Karen and I will be reviewing all participants blogs each week, and IF you have posted something about Paris or how you celebrate Paris at home during that week, you'll go in the draw for a prize. So at least once is all we'd ask. Hope to see you in "Paris in July'.

I'm not sure if it is too late to participate? I would love to -- I'm posting on my upcoming trip to Key West, but I love all things Paris and would love to give it a go and intersperse my blogging with items on Paris!

Bonjour! I actually have one up right now, even before I knew this at http://chopsticksandstring.blogspot.com

And I'll pull another by the middle or end of the week for http://themarmeladegypsy.blogspot.com(my regular blog; Chopsticks... is mostly books.)

I fear I shall fall into this and never surface! And these posts come at a timely moment -- tonight I'm meeting friends for dinner to help them in planning their first trip to Paris! So, the mind is fresh -- and I'll send them to your links to discover even more!

What a wonderful idea! Merci!

What a great idea. Count me in. Even though I took French for more years than I can remember, I hope that we won't have to speak French because I will definitely be lost!!!
