Paris in July - Wrap Up 2015



Paris in July has been HUGE! Well, what an amazing month we've had! Thank you to everyone who joined in and every one who visited. Firstly, here's what happened this week (check out the mr linky here for links to all these posts). My apologies if I haven't mentioned you, there was alot of activity to keep up with.
Book reviews 
  • Mel U (The Reading Life) – please visit here to see what Mel reviewed – it is an impressive list of Irene Nemirovsky and other classic French authors like Guy de Maupassant and Honore de Balzac

  • Nadia A (abookishwayoflife) posted about this to die for little book – Madeleines: Elegant French Tea Cakes to Bake and Share.... what a wonderful idea!
  • Nari (The Novel World) –  A Paris Affair – a review of a short little novel outlining 10 illicit affairs. ‘interesting!’
  • Brona’s Books found an enticing book titled ‘the most beautiful walk in the world – a pedestrian in Paris’ – sadly the book didn’t meet her expectations.
  • Guiltless Reading makes a book suggestion about a women who’s invited by a rich uncle to help run the BnB in France – The Summer of France, a Novel
  • Karen (Books and Chocolate) – reviewed a classic French novel – The Count of Monte Critsto
  • Melissa (Avid Reader Musings) reviewed the book ‘Bringing up Bebe’ about the wisdom of French Parenting.
  • Lisbeth (The Content Reader) continued from her 2014 reading of Hemmingway, and picked up The Sun Also Rises
  • Esme (Chocolates and Croissants) reviewed ‘the little paris bookshop’, and it seems many others have this on their TBR list
  • Jane (Beyond Eden Rock)  introduces us to Oriel Malet, author of Two Girls in Paris: Jam Today (1957) – thanks Jane.
  • Nari (The Novel World) reviewed a fascinating travel book based on the Tour de France – George’s Grand Tour, by Caroline Vermalle
  • Molly (my cozy book nook) reviewed Lisette’s List, by Susan Vreeland, and Molly raved about this book based on the art world.


Memories 
  • Esme (Chocolates and Croissants) for her final post shared her own little secret place in Paris. Thank you Esme.
  • Louise (A strong belief in wicker) took us on a visit the Paris Plages – the extravaganza on the banks of the Seine.
  • Melissa (Avid Reader’s Musings) reminded us of Shakespeare and Company, the bookstore in Paris
  • Deb Nance (ReaderBuzz) shared le Jardin du Luxemburg for her ‘wordless Wednesday post, photo’s from past and present.
  • This week Teddyree took us to Chateau de Verseille for a visit. Photo’s and snippets.
 
Film and Music review 

  • Lisbeth (The Content Reader) – thank you for this delightful memory – Music from 1964 – Natalie by Gilbert Becaud – love that clip.
  • Arti (ripple Effects) reviewed the film ‘Clouds of Sils Maria’ by French Director, Olivier Assayas.


 Food 
  • Mae posted the French classic Salade Nicoise, an everyday French dish.
  • Tamara posted on poached pears and offers two different recipes.
  • Mardi (eat.live.travel.write) says ‘yes you can get a decent coffee in Paris’ – check out this post even just for the photo’s of coffee!
I would personally like to post a further Paris in July Summary in a couple of days, and some of participants are also posting summaries, so keep in touch. Don't be strangers. 
In finally, I awarded a couple of special prizes this year, including

Creating an interesting forum for such a big group is really a great accomplishment! You did a great job enabling writers with such varied points of view about Paris to discover one another! I hope you do it again.

Fantastic job hosting Tamara, I appreciate all the hard work you put in that makes it so easy for us to participate and I've loved every minute of it. I'll be doing a short wrap up post :)
