After spending the last few weeks away from home for various different work functions and training, I was home this weekend - yeh! And I spent most of Saturday cleaning the house, and preparing a Lebanese Feast for my partners Birthday celebrations with friends. I enjoy the challenge of finding a theme and creating things I've not done before. I have to say this was a simple challenge - the Lebanese use a yummy mix of lemons, garlics and soft spices like Cinnamon and nutmeg...it's simple to prepare, and there's plenty of opportunity to be a bit creative. I also simply enjoyed going to the garden to collect the salad ingredients.
The meal was delicious!!
- Flat bread and home made Hommous
- Fattoush Salad
- Spiced Rice
- Marinated Chicken skewers
- Hazelnut Date Loaf
This looks and sounds delicious! Love the idea of putting the rice in a mold... makes it extra special.
Looks yummy. I'll have to look into that date loaf recipe. I got a huge box of dates at the farm last year and most of it still in the freezer
JoAnn, the rice turned out really well, and my guests were pretty impressed too. Sarah, I played with the Date recipe by using gluten free flour, but it still turned out yummy. It's pretty sweet too with the condensed milk - I might think about reducing that too next time. But enjoy!
T that all looks amazing!!! You have inspired me!
Wow. That looks all so yummie. Thanks for sharing this. I'll try the salad soon.
I've never cooked Middle Eastern food, but love going to the Mid-East restaurants. It looks so hard! Shall I take your word that it's not so bad?!
