This week, Mel posed the question about French Movies, so I thought I'd share these idea's. I haven't seen any of these yet, but the sydney Classic Film Festival will be showing these next month. For me, July is about Le Tour.

and especially the mountains... I love the mountains.

 In 2011 I rode up Mt Ventoux and ever since I've loved to watch this stage of the tour

sadly this year the wind prevented the stage going all the way to the top

however it was still an exiting stage end with it's own controversies..

 I've really been enjoying some of the variety of posts I've been reading this year

I was reminded of this dog photo I took one year in Paris when I read the post on Pets in Paris

I love that pets are so welcomed in Paris 

(although I think Parisians should take more responsibility for the mess).

 I'm currently reading Paris Light by Moira McCarthy

and in her memoirs of walking through Paris, she reminded me of

the Luxembourg Gardens, and the time my partner and I enjoyed summer days there.

So, here's to summer in Paris, Pets, memories, and gardens!

Paris in July Week 2 Links

Noumea - Locals playing Petanque

Welcome to the second week of Paris in July. I apologise for the late posting of this weeks Mr Linky. I've just returned from New Caledonia, where I did relax, read, speak french, eat french, and enjoyed the company of locals. I didn’t spend too much time online or doing any admin for my many volunteed projects. It was a needed break. However I return to a new job, a large late running uni assignment, and a needy and lonely dog who deserves some lovin.

While travelling I did get a chance to visit a few Paris in July bloggers. Again, lots of diversity and different activities. Some have posted on previous trips to Paris (check out The Marmalade Gypsy, and Esme at chocolate & croissants posts), some have been busy reading classics (see Dolce Belezza), and some more recent french literature  (see the Reading Life & Bronas books) and for a film review see the Content Reader.

I wanted to share this clip, I have quite enjoyed listening to french music & radio while travelling.

Paris in July - Week 1 Links

Again, Thanks to Deb for the two Paris in July 2016 Buttons. I've chosen to display this one this week, because as the face is partly covered and partly uncovered, so is Paris in July - the blogging event.

I've attempted to get around and visit most of the blogs this week, and I've been inspired and challenged by the range of reading options, and the intentions of participants. I quite enjoyed the little music clip posted by Ally at SnowFeathers.


I have myself started two of my books, and I'm looking forward to my trip (tomorrow) when I will have time to sit back and read. While I'm away, living and relaxing in my nearest Paris.... I'm not certain I'll have reliable or free wi-fi. So I'll catch up when I can.

My Paris in July Intentions

Paris in July will be a distraction for me, a pleasant one, from my chaotic schedule this month. Luckily I do have a week off mid July - so I'm setting my goals high for that one week of rest.

My Intentions for Paris in July include

1. Eating French Food - shouldn't be too difficult as I'll be in New Caledonia for my week off.. 
2. Watching a French Movie - could do that in New Caledonia too.
3. Celebrating Bastille Day/ Qartorze Juliet - I'll be in New Caledonia for that too :) 
4. some reading intentions for my week away include these....

 This one appeals to me because it's written by an Australian Women who arrives in Paris to take photos, but ends up discovering more. One review noted 'Written with warmth and intimacy, this is a perspective on Paris beyond the awesome grandeur of its architecture by a writer who is able to find the beauty in almost anything'...

 

A lighter read (I hope) that comes with this sales pitch..... Sun, croissants and fine wine. Nothing can spoil the perfect holiday. Or can it?

 

 This book is appealing as it's a collection of real stories from real women who took the leap to transform their lives in the most dreamed about city in the world and it appeals to me because the by-line is ........ 

Living, Loving and Leaping without a Net in the City of Light

 Those who know me, know I like a good homicide novel. This one comes with rave reviews and is a winner of France's prestigious Prix du Quai des Orfèvres prize for best crime fiction, named Best Crime Fiction Novel of the Year, and already an international bestseller with over 150,000 copies sold.

Paris in July buttons

Our 2016 Paris in July Blogging event is less than a week from commencing, and I'm really excited about how many people have signed up already. Deb has kindly produced these wonderful buttons for us to use this year. I think they capture the essence of the blogging event - the Eiffel tower is the quintessential reminder of all things Parisian, and this beautiful sculpture reminds us of the wonderful arts, literature and thinking that comes out of Paris. Thanks Deb!

I've also had one volunteer to assist with providing a Paris in July weekly summary, and I'm open to others. The idea is that at the end of the week we just post a simple summary of the types of things people have been posting. It's a simple way to stay connected and inspired. I will also be posting the weekly sign in Mr Linkys.

For me, I haven't yet decided my blogging projects - books, movies, food or something different... but I can share with you I'm going for a weeks holiday to Australia's nearest Paris - We're going to Numea and Les Iles des Pins. I'mm sure there's going to be some french markets, restarants, and all sorts of frenchy stuff.. I'm very much looking forward to that week away.

If anyone has any recommended lightist french novels, I'm open for suggestions. There'll be some beachside/poolside reading in Numea!
