A spot for me to blog on life in my garden, where I grow things, read things, drink tea and ponder. An important principle for me is living a simple life - to live simply so that others may simply live

Ravel's Bolero and other classics
Tonight we're going to a classical music dinner party, invited to bring our favourite piece of classical music. This is my partners..... Should be a great night.
Ah! What a treat! I hope that you'll enjoy a great performance.
Have you ever read a biography of Ravel? Just recently I read a biographical novel covering his last ten years. He must have been quite an unusual man. You can find a brief review of the slim volume on LaGraziana's Kalliopeion at http://lagraziana.booklikes.com/post/1478569/ravel-by-jean-echenoz
hank you Edith, during our evening of Classical Music, most of us expressed embarrasement on our lack of knowledge of most of our favourite composers..
That's a really fabulous idea! How was the party? I hope it was a ton of fun and you were exposed to new ones, too. We just went to the Detroit Symphony over the weekend -- some Stravinsky, Silbelius and a Finnish guy I'd never heard of... all wonderful.
I love Ravel and Bolero is a favorite of mine, too. I remember the Torvill and Dean Olympic skating routine so clearly. It has such power and strength.
