It's interesting thinking about how they were affected by or influenced by the big world events going on around them during their formative years. When you're young you think your grandparents are old-fashioned and out of time, but, of course, they were once young, starting out with youthful ideals and hopes and wishes, forging a new way as they looked back on their parents as being old-fashioned!!

A nice reminder of the passing of time...and a story in the making perhaps?Bronahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11110584237325026052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2141183946001080597.post-17191723552156168732018-07-11T04:56:00.782+10:002018-07-11T04:56:00.782+10:00This is just a wonderful post, Tamara. She sounds like a wonderful and strong woman and I know you are justifiably proud of her. Thanks for sharing your information about your grandmother.

I just finished reading Paris When It Sizzles. I must admit I read quite quickly through some of the stories I wasn't as interested in (the military leaders, the architects) but the other stories were compelling. These people learned so much from each other. It was a wonderful time for creativity. There's a lot of Australian history that isn't well-known outside of Australia itself, which is suggested in your write-up. When you are able to read more of the book, you'll probably also have lots to write about Paris history -- it was a wonderful decade there.

best... mae at maefood.blogspot.comMae Travelshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13328946930935633113noreply@blogger.com
